My journey with Pilates began in 2003 when I was introduced to the method as part of my rehabilitation for persistent lower back pain. At the time, I was a competitive ice dancer representing Great Britain internationally, and I quickly realised that Pilates offered far more than pain management. It transformed the way I moved, improved my performance, enhanced my strength and control, and became an essential part of my athletic career.
I continued to use Pilates throughout my years competing and medalling for Team GB, and later as a professional performer touring Europe in productions including Dancing on Ice. What started as a tool for rehabilitation became a lifelong passion and ultimately the foundation of my career.
Following my sporting career, I transitioned into healthcare and movement education, completing my degree in Sport Rehabilitation, a postgraduate qualification in Strength and Conditioning, and comprehensive Pilates teacher training. Over the past two decades, I have continued to study extensively with leading Pilates organisations and educators, including APPI, Balanced Body University, Body Control Pilates and second-generation Pilates teachers, alongside ongoing work with physiotherapists, women's health specialists and rehabilitation professionals.
Throughout my career, I have worked with an incredibly diverse range of clients, including Premier League footballers, Olympic medallists, professional dancers, amateur athletes, ante and postnatal clients, individuals living with neurological conditions, and people managing complex musculoskeletal injuries and chronic pain. I have also worked extensively with older adults and clients ranging in age from 5 to 90 years old.
In 2015, I founded Clinic Equilibrium, a specialist Pilates and rehabilitation studio in Cheshire, followed by Elite Physio & Therapy in 2017. Through these businesses, I have spent years bridging the gap between traditional Pilates teaching and clinical rehabilitation, helping clients achieve meaningful results while supporting healthcare professionals and Pilates teachers in developing their skills.
This experience became the foundation for Equilibrium Education.
I created Equilibrium Education because I believe the Pilates industry needs highly skilled, knowledgeable teachers who can confidently work with the real people who walk through their studio doors. While understanding the Pilates repertoire is important, exceptional teachers must also understand movement, anatomy, biomechanics, communication, progression, modification and clinical reasoning.
My mission is to develop teachers who can teach Pilates with confidence, precision and purpose, whether they are working with a healthy client looking to improve fitness, an older adult managing osteoporosis, a postnatal mother returning to exercise, or someone recovering from injury.
Our programmes combine the principles and traditions of Pilates with contemporary movement science, rehabilitation knowledge and real-world teaching experience. The result is a comprehensive education that prepares teachers not just to teach exercises, but to understand the individual in front of them and adapt their teaching accordingly.
I am passionate about raising standards within the industry and helping create the next generation of Pilates teachers who are knowledgeable, adaptable, professional and capable of making a genuine difference to people's lives.
Because great Pilates teachers don't simply teach exercises—they teach people.
